St James Community Square Society Board Opportunity
The non-profit St James Community Square Society is looking for volunteers who may be interested in becoming a part of the Board of Directors that governs the space at 3214 West 10th Avenue in Vancouver. We like to call ourselves the ’Square’! We are a long-standing popular hub for many community services. With a still 25-year lease secured with the City of Vancouver, we provide lease and rental arrangements to organizations such as the Roque Folk Club, Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra, Phoenix Gymnastics, a Daycare and a Pre-school. We also operate a successful performance hall. We are currently creating a strategic plan for the next 5 years, and would welcome some new energetic folks to work with us on this.
We generally meet every third Thursday of the month, summers excluded. We hope for an initial two-year commitment to assist with enhancing and expanding our already strong Kitsilano presence.
We are recruiting members with some of the following skills and interests:
- Direct experience with Indigenous groups
- Experience building, operating, and maintaining buildings such as ours
- Non-profit governance
- Legal or financial experience as applied to non-profits
- Experience with some of our user groups, such as youth, immigrants, seniors, those with disabilities
Please have a look at our newly revised website to learn more about St. James.
Resumes can be sent to Shirley Kamerling-Roberts at info@sjcommunitysquare.org.
Our current Board Chair, Elaine Murray, would be happy to discuss your potential interest in joining our Board. She can be reached at 604-816-5697.
Thank you for considering St James.
